Jurisdiction of the court and applicable law in international matters
In international situations, the question always arises as to which court is competent to hear a dispute between (ex) spouses. When Dutch people live abroad, the Dutch court may have jurisdiction, but that is not the case in all cases. For people in the Netherlands, with a nationality other than Dutch, the Dutch court is usually the competent court. But which law does it apply in that case? This may be Dutch law, but also the law of the nationality of the parties.
